About
"In the backdrop of the current anti-immigrant rhetoric, Priya Darshini stands out as a beacon of hope for cultural unanimity.” - ELLE India
Born in Chennai, raised in Mumbai, and based in New York,
Priya Darshini blends her Indian Classical roots with global
influences to create music that is elegant, tranquil, and
intricately layered. Her debut solo album, Periphery (Chesky
Records), earned a nomination for Best New Age Album at the
63rd GRAMMY® Awards. Inspired by her immigrant journey, it
was recorded live with a single microphone in a Brooklyn
church, and showcases her ability to push compositional
boundaries while reflecting deeply personal experiences.
Named one of Variety’s “10 Grammy-Nominated Women to
Know” and Tatler Asia’s “Six Asian Women Changing the Face
of Music,” Darshini has collaborated with celebrated artists
including Victor Wooten, Roy Futureman Wooten, Pearl Jam,
Karsh Kale, Jake Shimabukuro, and Edmar Castaneda.
Beyond her music career in the US, Darshini is a chart-topping
Bollywood playback singer, actor, environmental advocate,

and ultra-marathon runner. She serves on the Board of Directors for the International Wildlife Coexistence Network, is a trustee for Jana Rakshita - a non-profit supporting underserved pediatric cancer patients and education for girls in India - and was the first Indian woman to complete the Himalayan 100-mile ultramarathon.
